A end can be true?

The Last Of Us is a video game and series that have fascinated me: the franchise itself tells a realistic story and brings together endearing characters both in the game and the series. The wave of hatred against Bella Ramsey disappointed me. Seeing such childish behaviour towards an actress who was chosen because she perfectly embodies the emotional character of Ellie is scandalous. Apart from that, in my opinion, the work represents a plausible future with global tensions and notably, the “exaggerated” evolution of the sectors I work in, computing and technology. My first opinion is that we could reach a sort of saturation, where evolution will have led to societal decline, through some kind of revolution or just naturally. My second opinion is that a disease could cause a radical change to the world we live in, because as a reminder, bacteria evolve. Cordyceps currently possess the characteristics illustrated in the series but mainly on ants, but currently in no way on humans, for now. In ants it has been observed that, when they are infected by cordyceps, their behaviour changes radically: the ant leaves its colony, climbs onto vegetation at a strategic height, then fixes itself firmly there with its mandibles (the “death bite”). After its death, the fungus grows through its body, releasing spores to infect other ants. Current science and several sources assert that the evolution of cordyceps towards contamination in humans is very unlikely in the short or medium term. Cordyceps is an extremely specialised fungus that parasitises certain insects by precisely manipulating their behaviour, but it is not adapted to infect humans due to our biological and immune differences, as well as our higher body temperature. That said, scientists acknowledge that climate change could facilitate the evolution of certain pathogenic fungi, or even give rise to new fungal threats to human health, such as the emergence of Candida auris, a multi-resistant fungus transmissible between humans. Thus, that is why I think of these two opinions, for their characteristics of close possibility with our future.
